Since January 2025, the Foundation for International Cardiac and Community Services (FICCS) has been partnering with Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital in Nairobi to offer hands-on First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) trainings for hospital staff.
These monthly sessions are more than just instructional, they are a vital investment in emergency preparedness. In a country where many lives are lost due to delays in first response care, empowering healthcare workers with the knowledge and confidence to take action is a game-changer.
From breathing emergencies and traumatic injuries to CPR and AED use, the training covers a wide range of real-life scenarios. Each session is practical, interactive, and designed to reflect the everyday realities of healthcare professionals in Kenya. Staff leave not only with certification, but with readiness.
“We don’t just teach procedures, we build instincts,” shared one FICCS team member during a recent session. “In emergencies, what you do in the first five minutes matters most.”
The collaboration reflects FICCS’s broader mission: to create safer, healthier communities by equipping frontline workers with lifesaving skills. With each training session, lives are being protected, not just within hospital walls, but across the communities these professionals serve.
As we move toward the final quarter of 2025, FICCS continues to strengthen healthcare systems through education, mentorship, and global partnerships, one training at a time.
